I have just received some sad news to end the year on. Long time member, Ken Pountney has just emailed me with some information about the passing of one of the clubs earliest members, Bill Lewis. Ken wrote some details of Bill's involvement in the club. He said "Bill joined the club in 1972, and was editor of the club magazine in the mid 70's, I think Keith Downie followed him. Bill and his two sons ran in one of the come and try motorkhanas at Cataract. Bill married Ruth (Haddock) who was club secretary after Heather Murray, she joined the club with the Badman's". As I joined the club in the late 70's Bill's name and involvement in the history of the club along with the other early club members mentioned by Ken are known to me but I think I came along just as Bill's involvement was winding down. It is always sad to hear of the passing of a former member especially one who played such a significant roll in the club as the editor surely was in those days.

Once again we have come to the end of a year. I would like to say thank you to all of the competitors for the year because you are the reason we are here, thank you to the officials because without you nothing would happen, thank you to the event organisers because you have gone the extra distance and created for us some very challenging activities throughout the year and thankyou to the spectators at events because you help to build such a friendly and open environment for us all to enjoy the days. Also thankyou to the committee who have worked so tirelessly across the whole year to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as it does and achieves the success that we have come to expect of our various activities. When I say run smoothly it’s actually like the proverbial swimming duck; it all looks smooth and graceful on the surface but underneath the activity is anything but graceful and smooth.
Thank you to all those who attended this year’s Christmas Dinner and Presentation Night. You helped us celebrate a very successful year and to recognise the efforts of a variety of people active both in the club and outside the club. We made a very special presentation to the Warner family and created a new direction for some of the future championships including the new “Bronwyn Warner Memorial Ladies Competition” trophy. The night went off very well and I would like to thank all those, especially to Les Oliver who helped with the organisation and with the presentations throughout the evening. It went very well and with the exception of a few minor glitches; which I hope nobody in the audience noticed, it was a very successful night.

“After a 13 year battle with cancer, Bronwyn passed peacefully to be with the Lord approximately 10.35 this morning” 11/4/12. This message was received today from Russell Warner, former club member and former club Chaplain.
I would like all club members to keep the Warner family in their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time and we send our deepest condolences to Russell and the girls. We remember and celebrate Bronwyn’s memory, dedication and involvement in the club and outside of the club over the years. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.
Yours in Christ

Following the recent rains the grounds at Cataract requires work to fill ruts, cut back bushes, and generally make the tracks suitable for our continued use. Steven Hughes has arranged 2 bobcats and a roller for us to use.
We will require as many members as possible to carry out the work from 8:30 until 3:00pm, and the club will be supplying a BBQ lunch on the day.

Please bring:
Shovels, spades, brushcutters, chainsaws, saws etc …. The more the better so that we can get the work done quickly….
Please remember that our agreement with the scouts is that we maintain the roads, so if you can assist please let me know so that we can work out the details for the day.
Please email or ring me if you can assist
Regards, Les - 0439971734

Following an inspection of the roads at Cataract following the recent heavy rain the roads in the area, we have found the roads unsuitable for the event to proceed.
We are planning a major working bee at Cataract on the 31st March when we hope to correct the damage caused by the rain.
Would all CACA members please put some time aside on the 31st March to assist. We are hoping to have some heavy equipment there to assist with the work. Details on the working bee will be supplied to members once finalised.
A replacement date for the Khanacross will be advised in due course.
Regards
Les Oliver (for Ben Harris Event Director)
