Christian Autosports is a Non-Denominational Christian based organisation. It was set up originally as an area where Christians with an interest in motor sport could meet. This provided a wonderful arena for Christians to become involved in an activity that they were interested in and to provide an active witness to Christ.
The club began its activities over 30 years ago and since then it has expanded to three states. The club has grown to have members widely spread with sub-branches in many regional areas. All branches of the club are affiliated with CAMS (the Confederation of Australian Motor sport) and actively involved in a wide spectrum of motor sport activities.
The Club doesn't set itself up as an alternative to the established church but rather as a way for Christians with an interest in cars to constructively use their skills and interests in God's service. The Club is non-denominational Christian Organisation and membership is open to anyone who shares in the clubs vision.
The broad aim of the club is to present Christ through Motor sport.
The New South Wales branch of the Christian Autosports Club of Australia meets every second month from January to November. The meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the respective month commencing at 8.00pm. Mostly these meetings are held at the Dundas West Uniting Church, corner of Park and Kissing Point Roads, Dundas. One or Two meetings per year may be held on Sydney's south side generally at the St Marks Anglican Church, Bangor. Club Meetings feature a variety of activities sometimes including guest speakers, competition updates, demonstrations, videos and devotions. More detailed information of times and venues can be found on the clubs calendar. Click here to see the calendar.
Originally the association's competitive involvement was mainly in rallying, motorkhanas and lap dashes. This has expanded over the years into many diverse areas of motor sport. The association has been involved in a broad spectrum of motor sport activities and over the years, through its members, has had some involvement in most forms of traditional motor sport The association is also involved in the organization and administration of motor sport events and many of the association members are accredited motor sport officials.
The competition events that the association organizes fall into three main areas. These are Open events or events that are organized by the association at which members from other car clubs are invited to join us and compete with us. The second type are closed events and these are organized solely for the benefits of the association members. The last type of event is for the purpose of training and may be a practice day, a training day or a promotional activity.

The association has been actively promoting driver awareness, good driving practices, and advanced driving skills for over 30 years. In the past 10 or more years the club has increased its focus on driver education. To this end the club has conducted many driver training days.
These range from novice drivers, some of whom may not yet have driven a car or only just begun with a learners permit through to advanced driver training. The novice driver training sessions are designed to allow new drivers to be introduced to the skills needed to operate a motor vehicle without the need to concern themselves with other road users or even, at this early stage, with the rules of the road. The opportunity is given to allow a beginner to have the experience of manoeuvring a car in a non-threatening environment under close and very often one on one supervision. Other sessions are designed to introduce drivers to the skills required to compete in motor sport These include aspects of car control that can apply both on the race track and on the road, improving a drivers overall skills, making drivers more aware of their own limits and the limits of the vehicle. Many of these skills while useful in everyday driving or in an emergency situations cannot be reasonably or legally learnt or practiced on public roads. The driver training days allow drivers to explore and experience a wide variety of situations under controlled conditions.
In the end these driver training activities allow people to be a more aware driver both on the road and on the track. The training sessions promote awareness, skills and above all a responsible attitude to all aspects of motor vehicle use. They also allow a driver to experience a wide range of situations that would not be normally experienced in every day road use. Also it provides an opportunity to experience situations under controlled conditions that on the road would be undesirable.

Other activities are designed to develop member's mechanical knowledge and driving skills while other activities are purely Social in nature. Social activities may include Dinners, BBQ's, film nights and bowling nights. Some of our best social times occur while engaged as officials in motor sports events. This might include the middle of the night, middle of a forest, at some ridiculous hour, waiting for a car to come through a rally control point. It also may include a day as a spectator or assisting competitors at Motor sport events in a non-competition role.
The club has recently added a 4 wheel drive element to its activities. While many club members own a 4 wheel drive, in many cases as a tow vehicle for their competition car, it was suggested that they may like to use their 4 wheel drives for something more in keeping with there design capabilities. It was decided that these off road expeditions would be purely a social activity. And so the 4 x 4 Social outings were devised. If you don't own a 4 wheel drive but would be interested in these outings then don't let that stop you.

The Club is a Christian based organization and as such is involved in Christian Devotions, in Christian activities and promoting Christian beliefs and values. The club has a team of Chaplains who are active in the spiritual life of the club and its members. The club and its chaplains do not seek to replace the role of the established church but are actively involved in supporting members and encouraging members in the Christian beliefs and activities. The club is an outlet for the members who wish to promote Christ and Christian activities primarily, but not solely, within motor sport
